Happy Father's Day!

Father's Day didn't quite turn out as we planned it. Craig's breakfast-in-bed turned into cleaning up after Kyla who woke up sick at 6:30 am. I think we overdid it yesterday with graduation and two barbeques...more than she is used to. Or maybe she just had a touch of the flu...who knows? Anyway, our plan was to bring breakfast to Craig then all go fishing and have a picnic in the park. We did eventually make Craig some pancakes, and he and the boys did get to go fishing...while Kyla and I stayed home to rest. I guess when you have three kids you have to be flexible and expect the unexpected. He said he still had a good day and enjoyed the fishing trip with the boys! Craig is such a wonderful dad - one of the first things that attracted me to him. Here's to the dads...not an easy job!

Craig has finally reached the end....almost...of his long journey in graduate school. The graduation ceremony was actually really nice. Graduations are usually very long and some might say...quite boring, but since there were only about 80 graduates, it was nice. The boys were very well-behaved...we learned our lesson by trying to bring Kyla to Hunter's program that it would be best to leave her behind. So my sister graciously let her spend the night and brought her over after the ceremony...thanks Kim!

After the graduation we all headed back to our place for a barbeque and celebration. The weather was perfect and the food was great...Craig is the barbeque master! He doesn't even get a break on his own graduation. :) I don't think he minded too much. We are all so proud of his hard work and determination...WAY TO GO - We love you!!!!

I thought I'd throw a few recent pictures of Kyla in so you can see how she's growing and what new things she is doing...

Attempting to potty train - Kyla likes her potty chair, however she doesn't quite have the hang of the "potty" concept yet. She likes to sit on her chair and play with the toilet paper, but that's about it. She'll get it eventually....I hope. :)

Kyla's most recent entertainment comes from crawling in the cabinet under the sink and playing "peek-a-boo."

Ta-da!!! Kyla also loves to climb up on top of the kitchen counter these days. Still working on breaking her of that habit. :)

Hunter's Big Day!!!

Today was a very special day for Hunter. He earned the President's Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence (that's a mouthful). Only a handful of kids in his class earned this special honor. In order to win this award, Hunter maintained above a 3.5 GPA in both 4th and 5th grades. In addition, he ranked in the top 15% nationally with his ISAT test scores. Who knew he was such a genius??? Well, we did of course (or at least that's what he tells us!) We are so proud of his achievements and hard work. He even thanked us for making him do his homework (nevermind that his teacher told him to tell us that.) :) Way to go, Hunter!

Day at the Zoo...

Happy Memorial Day! We celebrated Memorial Day (along with just about everybody else in Boise) by going to the zoo. This was Kyla's first time at the zoo. It was a nice day...not too hot, but not too cold. Kyla enjoyed the prairie dogs the best. The boys love to see the monkeys and snakes - they are definitely boys! Now it's time to gear up for the final week of school.

Last weekend was my little sister, Kim's, baby shower. It was also my birthday, so I had to make sure she knew that I wasn't happy about her making me get up early on my birthday. :) The shower turned out great though, so I it was worth it. My older sister, Monica, and little sister, Debbie were also able to come up for the special event. Kim got lots of great stuff for little Oliver. I'm sure he has no idea how lucky he is. Kim and Jack will be great parents.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! I had a very nice Mother's Day - we went to Ontario to visit my family on Saturday evening. We had a bar-be-que and the boys got to ride the 4-wheeler...lot's of fun. On Mother's Day, Craig and the boys brought me breakfast in bed....from McDonald's (which is fine with me), and then Craig, Kyla and I went to have brunch with Craig's parents and brother and sister-in-law (Dean and Karen). It was a really nice day, so when I got home I had some time to plant the flowers that I got! Now that I'm a mom, I really appreciate my own mom and feel so lucky to have her as a role-model and friend. She's the best!



Kyla has reached the age where it is hit or miss with pictures. Unfortunately, this was a miss, but it's the only picture I have with her on Mother's Day. I guess I can't say much since being photogenic has never been my strength either. I love her just the same though. :)
